Josh Parks - Project 7

Project 7
1. My preferred method of creating text and layer effects has been slightly altered this week because I have had a lot of fun with the clipping masks. Ultimately, warping my text to a specific path is a great tool but photoshop has enough warping options to keep me happy most of the time. It doesn't have enough gradients and patters for my liking and that's why I think the clipping mask is an easy, quickly customizable option for making your text stand out.
2. I will definitely use clipping masks in the future. They give you an insane amount of control over the look of your text and can really bring it to another level. There are so many patterns out there that would instantly spice up your text.
3. I struggled beyond belief. I didn't find it very intuitive at first, but it did grow on me. Modifying it wasn't terrible except for the occasions where I wasn't able to guess how big of a difference one little change would make. There is a learning curve but for now I'm happy with my selection tools.
4. I struggled to enable certain features when I was using the tools. There were multiple occasions when I wasn't able to use the 'subtract from area' option because it was greyed out and I never could find out why.
5. Once I have any skills in Illustrator, I figure I will be using them constantly. Illustrator is the next level when it comes to graphic design and I know once I start working with vector graphics that much more then I will be utilizing smart objects all the time.
6. I really enjoyed learning about how you can hold shift when you first start creating a text box in order to prevent it from selecting a different text box which could be below. The text tool has given me a lot of grief whether I was struggling to select text that already exists or when I'm trying to avoid previously made text boxes. That little trick will come in handy for me.
