Anthony Irwin - Project 3
1. Which selection tools did you think worked best for specific types of elements in an image?
For me the quick select is by far the best selection tool. It is also way easier to use if you "train" it what to select using the alt key.
2. What tools and strategies that you used to create your simple composite will you use in future projects?
Learning to use layers is key! I also used a lot of hotkeys (move tool + ctrl+click to select a layer, ctrl+alt+click to duplicate a layer. I also created my own custom style so I could easily apply it to other layers. The transform tool is also very useful.
3. In this module, you created the transparent images. How do you believe these images will be used in your future web design projects? What file type did you save your transparent images as?
Transparent images are invaluable in web design. From backgrounds to bullets, banners to navigation bars, transparent images are key (no need to match bg color, etc.). I saved all my images as png24 to reduce edge "distortion".
4. What challenges did you experience in the process?
I have a tendency to forget steps and need to backtrack. On top of that my video card failed earlier this week, so I would also consider that a challenge...
5. What keyboard shortcuts are you using regularly now?
The first ones that come to mind are scrub zoom and using spacebar to pan the canvas. Using ctrl to select a layer/the move tool is a good one, as well as ctrl+t for transform. Can't forget ctrl+z :-)
