This is a compass rose I took a photo of in Utah when visiting my parents. I was particularly proud of this image mostly because of the amount of time I took removing almost all of the chips and cracks in the cement.
1. What was you experience in using Camera Raw to correct color in your images?
I highly enjoyed Camera Raw as a starter that got my image to a good foundation that I could tweak with ease from within Photoshop. I've often used Photoshop for color correction but I liked having that many sliders available to me at once to manipulate each setting until I was happy. Photoshop spreads the options out and MS Windows image programs can't even come close to competing with either when it comes to photo corrections.
2. What guided how you cropped your images? Explain your intention.
My OCD. I'm kidding but I do tend to aim for balanced and even photos when I can. On occasion, when I'm feeling adventurous, I will purposefully offset an image for dramatic effect. For the most part I utilize cropping to center items and keep the edges even on all sides.
3. How did you use content-aware in modifying your images?
I mostly used the content-aware feature for destruction. It provided an impressive blending option when removing large items from my photos. I usually used that as a first step and then followed up with the clone stamp or healing brush afterwards.
4. In what way did the clone stamp tool assist you to modify your images?
I used it a little for removing items but I was able to use it to restore a lot of blemishes on my photos. I see it as a medium option between the content-aware feature which can handle big tasks well and the healing brush which handles little tasks well.
5. How would you use these tools in future projects?
I was highly intrigued by the idea of giving people in my photos a weightlessness which can easily be achieved by removing the ground from underneath their feet. For the most part I saw these as great tools for manipulating photos to either clean out extra items that take away from the main focus or for comedic reasons because a person swinging at a baseball looks pretty ridiculous when you hide the bat that is in their hands. I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with these tools and I will be relying on them a lot in the future.
